Hi. Let me explain what this site is for. When R. Karsmakers of the Heartfield Central website asked me to get him a full sized hi-res picture of the guitar I actually put together a little photo session documenting everything about the guitar.
Click a thumbnail for a full sized picture.
Each picture was 2272x1704 or thereabouts. For this site I've reduced all the pictures to 640x480 or so to make it easier on those using dial-up.
Pictures were taken with a Konica Minolta dImage Z2 (4 MP) digital camera.
Each picture has a little caption at the bottom with my thoughts at the time of photographing.
This particular Heartfield EX-2 guitar was the 207th guitar built in May of 1989. The color was "539" or "Ebony Stain" according to their catalog literature. Over the years it's lightened somewhat to a really nice warm brownish color. You're looking at a guitar that's about 15 years old as of this writing.
I had my guitar tech Dean Rollie add the EMGs in the fall of 1989 - he also did the bridge pickup rout (the original route was shaped like two single coils side by side...). I remember his cat
Harvey playing with the CD player remote causing CDs to skip and that he was somewhat
nervous using a router on a top that nice. Thanks Dean!

Enjoy!
